A professor’s story about how a food closet saved Christmas

A professor’s story about how a food closet saved Christmas

As the director of River City Food Bank, I am always looking for venues to tell our story and get help.

Today through one of our Board members, I had the opportunity to talk with a marketing class at CSUS about our agency.  The instructor makes it a project for her students to become “agencies” and listen to the needs of prospective clients (nonprofits) and then take on their challenges with marketing and publicity ideas.  How lucky are we to be able to use the incredible talents and energy of these college students!

At the end of our presentation, I was surprised when the instructor came before the class and explained her own personal story, a story that involved a painful childhood when need was great and nonprofits like River City Food Bank came to the aid of her family.  Her ability to share made a huge impression on her students AND me.

You never know who has been touched by hunger and you never know where you will find them.
