COMMUNITY FOOD DONATIONS

 

River City Food Bank accepts food donations to support our mission of alleviating hunger in Sacramento.  On this page, you can find information on acceptable donations, drop-off locations, and our most needed items. Your contributions make our work possible – thank you!

Monday – Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Place food in barrel.

Ask to see a staff member if assistance or donation receipt is needed.

Canned goods, dry goods (cereal, rice, peanut butter, shelf-stable milk, etc.), produce, toiletries, feminine hygiene items, baby food, diapers, and wipes.

Donations of 100 items or less can be dropped off during donation hours.

If you have a large donation, please contact one of our Operations Coordinators to schedule a drop-off appointment.

  • RCFB is accepting donations of canned goods (e.g. canned fruit, tuna fish, soup, etc.) and peanut butter.
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Personal-size hygiene items (toothpaste, shampoo, feminine products, deodorant, soap, lotion), diapers (all sizes), unexpired baby food or formula, and pet food.

Yes. Please request a donation receipt from a staff member upon drop-off.

Non-expired foods are preferred but we can accept the following expired items:

  • Canned goods – no more than 1 year after expiration.
  • Dry goods – no more than 6 months expired.
  • Baby food cannot be expired.
