Empty Bowls, River City Food Bank’s (RCFB) largest fundraiser of the year, is a humble, community-based affair. The hundreds that gather share soup provided by the generosity of local restaurants and served by some of our most recognized community leaders.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, RCFB had to pivot from an in-person event to a virtual platform.
We are thrilled to announce that with the generosity of our donors, volunteers, sponsors and community partners, we raised more than $100,000 to support our neighbors in need!
We cannot thank you enough!

Every year, the Sacramento region comes together for one BIG Day of Giving – a 24-hour online giving challenge.
In 2020, our region raised over $12 million, with River City Food Bank finishing the day with more than $130,000!
Thank you for joining your neighbors and friends and supporting the great nonprofits in our community who have been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Your support provides much needed healthy food to families facing hunger.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. This year it will take place on December 3rd!
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
Donors to River City Food bank made more than $13,000 in gifts during Giving Tuesday 2019. We are so grateful for your support!
