At River City Food Bank, our mission is simple but powerful: we work tirelessly to alleviate hunger in Sacramento County by providing healthy, nutritious food to anyone in need. Every day, we help people avoid crises and move toward self-reliance by offering a short-term food supply when they can’t meet their basic living expenses.
We serve a diverse group of individuals, from low-income families and children to seniors, refugees, and those experiencing homelessness. In 2024 alone, we distributed 3.48 million pounds of food to 327,397 people. Our work is crucial, and we’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to serving the community.
About the Role
As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will recruit, train, and manage volunteers while ensuring they have a positive and meaningful experience. You’ll oversee scheduling, provide support during shifts, and collaborate with staff to meet organizational needs. Additionally, you will handle volunteer-related administration and foster relationships with corporate groups and community partners.
What You Will Do
Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers, ensuring proper placement and engagement
Manage scheduling, track volunteer hours, and maintain accurate records in the volunteer database
Provide orientation, training updates, and ongoing communication to support volunteers
Coordinate volunteer participation in special events, appreciation initiatives, and community partnerships
Assist with volunteer engagement efforts, including newsletters, social media, and reporting.
