SACRAMENTO, October 9, 2013 – River City Food Bank’s Harvest for Hunger fundraising event will be held Thursday October 10, 2013 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the River City Food Bank located on 1800 28th Street. Tickets are only $25 and are available online at RiverCityFoodBank.org.
Local Sacramento area residents and workers are invited to celebrate the harvest season with an evening of food trucks, beer and wine, live music, tours of the food bank and other festivities. Attendee support will enable River City Food Bank to continue educating, feeding, and nourishing over 6,000 children, families and seniors served monthly in the Sacramento area.
“We are beyond thrilled for this year’s Harvest for Hunger fundraising event,” said River City Food Bank Executive Director Eileen Thomas. “New this year, we are introducing a fun-filled, Sacramento-style harvest vibe for attendees to enjoy a casual night out while benefiting a great cause.”
In 2012, River City Food Bank experienced a nearly 50 percent increase in clients. More than 60,000 people received over 838,860 pounds of healthy and nutritious food from the organization. “Attending this event will help us continue to do what we do best – preventing local Sacramento area families from going hungry,” said Thomas.
Admission includes drink tickets for alcoholic beverages donated by local wineries and breweries along with food tickets to enjoy delicious appetizers and desserts from local food trucks including Swabbies Mobile, Squeeze Inn and Drewski’s Hot Rod Kitchen.
River City Food Bank is thankful for its gracious sponsors for this year’s Harvest for Hunger event, including VSP, Bonney Plumbing, Heating, Air and Rooter Service, Trumpette, Downey Brand LLP and the Campodonico family.
